Hush Dinner Club: 4-Course Georgia Farms Dinner
I’ve long been intrigued by the world of supper clubs. I hear about them, read about them, and see their photos on social media. I dreamed of one day hosting one, but I never seemed to answer the “when?” and “how?” of it. So you can imagine my excitement when I received an email from the host of Hush Dinner Club, a supper club that typically dines at the hottest restaurants in Atlanta. Actually it was a mix of excitement and horror because I found the several-weeks-old email in my spam folder (note to self: check my spam folder more often!). Anyhow, the host was interested in expanding outside of restaurants and trying out a dinner club event at a private residence. With my love for all things local and my work with Food Day (more on that soon), I saw this as the perfect opportunity to show off some of my favorite local farms and host a supper club!
We decided on a 4-course Georgia Farms Dinner for 10 guests to be hosted at my condo (aka Kitchen 1204). Each course was paired with wine from Perrine’s Wine Shop (in Westside Provisions District) that the owner Perrine handpicked herself. I pulled out all of my favorite vintage table linens, china, silver, and crystal that we’ve inherited from family. And to get into the full spirit of the dinner, I went out to Skylight Farm to help harvest the vegetables and flowers that were used in the dinner. I chose a spectrum of zinnias, fragrant mountain mint, and other branches and bits I found.
It was definitely a learning experience cooking 4 courses and serving 10 people, but such a fun evening. I only knew one of the guests previously, and it was a great way to meet lots of other food-loving Atlantans. I like to take any chance I can get to help foster community, and little did I know that I would actually meet some of my neighbors in the process.
Below is the information on each course and wine pairing. I’ll have some of the recipes coming soon!
