You’re Invited: Skylight Farm Dinner October 26!

Skylight Farm Dinner Benefitting Wholesome Wave Georgia

I have some exciting news! (No, Mom, I’m not pregnant!) I’m inviting you to join me on Sunday, October 26th, at my favorite Atlanta-area organic farm, Skylight Farm, for a farm-to-table benefit dinner prepared by me! (I’m a CSA member of Skylight Farm, so you’ve probably seen their beautiful produce in many of my other posts.)

We want to celebrate you, the home cooks, who work so hard to put healthy meals on the table and often don’t receive the praise you deserve. This dinner will benefit Wholesome Wave Georgia – an organization whose aim is to increase access to fresh, healthy, locally grown food for all Georgians. Wholesome Wave doubles federal food stamp (SNAP) benefits at local farmers markets, equipping more home cooks with the wholesome ingredients they need to provide for their families. It’s an organization that I personally support, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help them through my love of cooking.

Skylight Farm is located at the historic Glover Family Farm, a generations-old organic farm in Douglasville, Georgia. Starting at 5:30 pm, you can tour the farm with my dear friends Justin and Brittany Aiello and get a glimpse of all of the delicious, fall veggies growing. Explore the history of the farm and hear Justin share about the practice of land stewardship.

The tour will include drinks and hors d’oeuvres prior to dinner. The hors d’oeuvres will highlight some of the delicious, seasonal preserves offered by the canning and preserving superstars of Preserving Place.

As the sun sets, sit under twinkling lights to a three-course fall feast that I’ve prepared, highlighting the best that Skylight Farm and local producers have to offer.

So come out to the farm! Support Wholesome Wave GA while enjoying a hearty, autumn meal and a celebrating those wonderful home cooks that we love so much! And I can tell you from personal experience… breathing in that fresh farm air is good for your soul.

When: Sunday, October 26, 2014.

Farm tours, drinks, and hors d’oeuvres start at 5:30 pm.
